Golden Age of China : Tang Dynasty
This is our group's mindmap of China's golden age :the Tang Dynasty
What made Tang Dynasty the golden age of China ? :
Art and Culture: Handicraft Industry was fairly advanced, surpassed the standards of previous dynasties. Silk making was a fairly delicate process and the Chinese perfected it during Tang Dynasty. Tang 's poetry were most appreciated by men , even till this day.
Famous poets such as LiBai, WangBo and Luo BinWang crafted great poems during this dynasty.
In this period of time ,more religion was introduced, for example : Taoism, Buddhism and foreign religions.
Science and Technology: Astronomical Clock was invented as well as porcelain and gunpowder. First gas cylinders were made. Advancement in medicine and thus being able to test for diabetes.
Law and Order: Capable rulers such as Wu ZeTian, Tang ZaiZong and Tang XuanZhong maintained law and order and ensured no corruption.
Economy :The social economy in the earlier period of the Tang Dynasty underwent a rising process of recovery, development and prosperity. In particular, under the Zhen Guan Reign and the heyday of Kaiyuan, the national economy reached an unprecedented advanced level.
Poverty
This picture shows that a vulture is stalking its prey, the little girl (yes its a girl). The photograph was taken by Kevin Carter, a South African photojournalist. He was just a distance away from the child but he did not stretch out a helping hand to her. Instead, he won a prize with the photograph. He committed suicide a few months later due to depression. (unexpected right?) Actually he all he could do for the little girl was to chase the vulture away from her. Why? He was not allowed to touch any of the children there as they might be infected with contagious and fatal diseases. The photograph first appeared on 26 March 1993 and was carried in many other newspapers around the world. Hundreds of people contacted the newspaper to ask the fate of the girl. The paper reported that it was unknown whether she had managed to reach the feeding centre. In April 1994, the photograph won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography.
'Poverty' is the word that the group chose to summarize this picture .This shows that the people of Sudan are living in absolute poverty where by they were unable to afford the basic standards of living in the society, such as food, education and a shelter. The little girl in the photograph was so hungry she could not even stand up or get to the feeding centre that was not very far away. This made us more aware of the present of poverty in the world as we have not come very close to it.
